The London oi (2023)
85 x 85cm (33.5 x 33.5ins) framed,

This piece is made up of various stripes of red, white and blue (as a nod to the Union Flag). 'Oi' is a typical British expression and the work is made up of two separate perspex sheets with a gap at the middle, thus providing a feeling of movement as the viewer changes their position.

This is part of a series of ribbon-like forms which are turned over on themselves. In this case there is a single ribbon which is continuous in a never-ending geometric loop.

This is based on the 'flattened cube' series, zooming in on the central portion of the work, then offsetting various colours upon themselves. This has a Pop Art / Op Art feel with the viewer's eyes continuously on the move.

There are various images in this piece based on vertical stripes with further angled stripes at a 16 degree angle; from rushing water off a waterfall with a cloud of spray above, to a large mouth laughing at the viewer.

No Stars, Just Stripes (2023)

The famous American Pop Artist of the mid-1900's, Robert Indiana, contributed a piece to the American culture based on the letters 'L O V E' in a square format. This is my tribute to him, made with the colours of the Star-Spangled Banner. Unlike the American Flag, however, this piece is just made of stripes; the star is Indiana himself. This work is made of two separate perspex sheets with a gap in the middle, thus providing a feeling of movement as the viewer changes their position.

Hidden Love (2023)

The famous American Pop Artist of the mid-1900's, Robert Indiana, contributed a piece to the American culture based on the letters 'L O V E' in a square format. This is a variation of 'No Stars, Just Stripes' which again is made of two separate perspex sheets but this time the bottom sheet has been turned at 90 degrees providing a different interaction with the top sheet. Both sheets spell 'L O V E' but the bottom sheet is obscured, thus the title.

This photograph shows the glass-top tables with the coloured 'Interference' inserts to the lower tables. The upper table has a striped colour insert. The gaps between the stripes enact further interference when the lower tables are moved.
